How to download library owned e-books

Library owned e-books

Laurea Library acquires e-books from several different e-book services. Some services allow you to download e-books and read them offline for a limited period of time (1-2 weeks). Some services don't. Ebook Central, Ellibs (Finnish e-books only) and VLeBooks allow downloading e-books to your mobile device or to your computer.

Downloadable e-books are copy-protected with Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, so you first need to install a reading software that supports Adobe's DRM. For PC and Mac the reading software is called Adobe Digital Editions. For mobile devices install Adobe Digital Editions or Bluefire Reader.

Downloading with Firefox newest browser versions (98+)

Opening downloaded files with Firefox newest versions (98+) differ from previous browser versions. When you download an ebook from e.g. Ebook Central the downloaded .ascm file can now be found in the downloads menu at the top right corner of the browser. Clicking the name of the file will open the ebook in Adobe Digital Editions. (Presuming that Adobe Digital Editions is installed.)

If you click the name of the ebook with mouse’s righty button, you can choose similar files to be always opened automatically.
